Oklahoma governor urges salary boost for educators

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry wants to add an average of $1,200 per year to teacher salaries in the state, in a bid to move the average annual pay there of $42,379 closer to the national average of $50,816. "We have great teachers in Oklahoma, but until we pay them a competitive wage, we will continue to lose our best and brightest educators to Texas and other states that offer better salaries," he said.
