CDC: Kentucky has highest smoking mortality rate

CDC data show Kentucky and West Virginia have the highest death rates from smoking, while Utah and Hawaii have the lowest. Kentucky's 371 deaths per 100,000 adults age 35 and older is about 1.5 times higher than the national median of 263. The CDC says the numbers associate closely with adult smoking rates in each state.
