Cleaning-product manufacturers say there is demand for appealing scents, as well as products with seasonal scents. While olfactory preferences have expanded in recent years, some scents just don't translate well to the cleaning product industry. "Consumers equate household products with lighter scents and therefore heavier robust edible ingredients have not been as apparent in this category," said fragrance expert Sue Phillips. "It goes back to consumers wanting lighter scents to reflect cleanliness and freshness."
