Facebook replaces Google Maps as most popular mobile app

Facebook has surpassed Google Maps as the most used mobile application in the U.S., according to comScore, which reports 85.5 million unique visitors for the social network site last month. Facebook's ascension coincides with Apple's removal of Google Maps from iOS 6, but Google might have the final say following its recent introduction of a Maps app for iOS devices. In another study, the mobile data firm Onavo reported that YouTube remains Google's most popular application on iOS devices, having been downloaded by 44% of iPhone users in the last quarter even after Apple had removed the video site as a pre-installed app.
