Hotel industry optimistic that cycle will be long-lasting

Industry participants at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit predict that the recovery for the sector will last at least another four years. The severity of the downturn resulted in collapsed pipelines, they say -- hence there is very little new supply entering the market now. "Value in our industry is created during cyclical inflection points," says Sunstone Hotel Investors CEO Ken Cruse. "I think we're in a sturdy part of the cycle," added Michael Barnello, CEO of LaSalle Hotel Properties.
