DIRECTV: Weather Channel rift is a "private" dispute

DIRECTV's carriage dispute with The Weather Channel involves "two private companies" and does not need congressional action, despite some lawmakers expressing interest, according to Andrew Reinsdorf, the satellite provider's senior vice president for government affairs. The company added that it feels The Weather Channel is less valuable because viewers can get weather information via local broadcast channels or on the Internet.
