Poundland's price point brings record holiday sales

U.K. consumers turned to discount retailers during the recession years, and they've stayed, helping Poundland book a record holiday season. Sales increased more than 12% in the fourth quarter, reaching $578 million. The privately held company is considering a debut on the London Stock Exchange, with a valuation of $1.2 billion to $1.3 billion.
