Public radio execs: FM chips should be activated in all phones

Radio's role as a "trusted media and information resource" during emergencies makes it essential for all mobile phones to have an activated FM chip, write Paul Haaga, acting president and CEO of NPR, and Jon McTaggart, CEO of American Public Media Group. Public radio stations should encourage that activation of FM chips by signing their stations up for the NextRadio application and asking listeners to reach out to their mobile-phone providers, Haaga and McTaggart write.
