Study evaluates dog social connections

A small study of six dogs found that groups of dogs at play exhibit some characteristics of the social hierarchy seen in wolves. The study is too small to use to draw sweeping conclusions, according to animal experts, but it does suggest a new avenue for studying social networks in dogs.
