Study: Foundries enjoyed a 14% revenue boost in 2013

Worldwide revenue for silicon foundries reached $42.8 billion last year, a 14% increase from 2012's $37.6 billion, according to the annual McClean Report from IC Insights. Pure-play foundries, such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, GlobalFoundries and United Microelectronics, enjoyed a 16% increase in revenue to $36.2 billion, while the foundry businesses of integrated device manufacturers saw revenue rise by 2% to $6.6 billion in 2013, the report states.
