Commentary: Sciortino proves gay marriage backers can win

Openly gay and just 26 years old, Carl Sciortino was an unlikely choice to beat longtime state Rep. Vincent Ciampa, a Massachusetts Democrat who supported efforts to amend the state constitution to outlaw gay marriage. But Sciortino won the Democratic primary and went on to beat Ciampa again in the general election when he mounted a write-in campaign. He's not alone, columnist Deb Price writes.
