Virginia may alter tax structure for communications services

The House of Delegates panel passed a proposal to eliminate various local taxes on communications services in favor of a 5% flat tax on such services for the entire state. Among other things, the plan would impose taxes on satellite TV, Internet calling and long-distance phone bills, which currently are not taxed.
