Group criticizes government for not promoting U.S. tourism

The Travel Industry Association says the U.S. government's lack of effort to promote tourism within the country is allowing damaging perceptions to escalate. In particular, the TIA is upset by the government's silence over a harsh Jan. 20 article in The Sunday Times of London. TIA says passing the Travel Promotion Act of 2007 would help attract global visitors by enabling a partnership between private industry and the federal government.
