Report: U.S. diabetes costs surge

Diabetes-related costs in the U.S. total $174 billion per year, up 32% since 2002, a report from the American Diabetes Association said. There are 1 million new cases of the disease per year, and one expert says diabetes will handicap local and state economies within the next few decades.
