Orlando, Fla., saw hotel occupancy rates plummet nearly 60% in 2009, representing the worst rate on record for the market since Smith Travel Research started tracking the industry in 1987. The data do not include Walt Disney World hotels and resorts, but annual percentage declines in room revenue and average daily room rates also were the worst on record for the nation's second-largest hotel market.
