Singing and foot-tapping should be incorporated into handwriting lessons, according to Paula Heinricher, who taught educators during a Pittsburgh-area workshop how to use the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum to improve handwriting teaching and learning. Heinricher told about 20 educators that they should "ham it up" during handwriting lessons to keep students engaged.
