Small shops hope buy-local habits will continue

The Slow Money Alliance and the 3/50 Project helped small-business owners during the holidays by encouraging shoppers to spend more of their money locally, but shop owners are worried about whether the buy-local trend can be sustained. Since the recession began, many cost-conscious shoppers have abandoned local shops in favor of big-box discount stores, and one research firm says most Americans do not feel strongly about buying locally.
