Tax deal is vital to advance Alaskan pipeline venture, developers say

Expectations are rising that the Alaskan government will agree to a long-term tax plan with gas producers to get them to take part in a natural gas pipeline project in the state. This comes as TransCanada and Denali, the developers of rival pipeline ventures, seek to move their projects forward. "We need the kind of fiscal certainty that would mitigate the economic risks of this kind of a project," BP spokesman Steve Rinehart said.
