Google+ allows nicknames for some users

Google has backtracked on its resistance to allowing users to register under nicknames and pseudonyms. The site will now allow people to register under pseudonyms if they can prove they are widely known by that name on third-party sites or in published materials. "We recognize people have many notions around identity and ways to represent themselves. We want to be as inclusive as possible while still ensuring the integrity of the system and the community," Google executive Bradley Horowitz says.
