Ky. district prepares for new nutrition guidelines

A school district in Kentucky says it is prepared to implement new federal nutrition guidelines for school lunches, expected to be announced today. Jefferson County already is working to make its meals healthier, and has hired a chef to redesign its menu. The district also has reduced the sodium in school meals by about 40% in the past two years, and is seeking to purchase about one quarter of its produce this year from local farms.
