Pets and their owners both experience less stress and have higher levels of oxytocin, a hormone associated with good feelings, after exercising together, according to Sandra Barker, director of the Center for Human-Animal Interaction. Several resources are available to help owners enhance their workout with pets, such as dog-and-owner running clubs and fitness videos with tips on how to intensify dog walks.
