IT workers and vendors want cloud standards

A demand for scalability is prompting vendors and users to push for cloud standardization, but companies that depend on hosted technologies such as software-as-a-service lack a central authority to vet and champion specific protocols, Joe Masters Emison writes. As a result, the IT community has taken the reins on standardization efforts, through individual vendors and groups such as the Cloud Security Alliance, although experts say cloud technology may be advancing too fast for these efforts to keep up.
