A new concrete roof tile can endure strong hailstorms, according to manufacturer Boral USA. The FM 4473 Class 4 Hail Resistant Roof Tile withstood a two-inch ice ball hurled at 70 miles per hour during a demonstration at the International Builders' Show in Las Vegas. The material costs about $100 per square. For most buildings, a structural inspection is strongly recommended to determine whether the structure can bear the load of a concrete tile roof.
