Study: Benefits of no-till corn-growing methods are underestimated

No-till corn-production methods capture more carbon than previously thought, according to a Department of Agriculture analysis. The no-till methods sequestered carbon up to 59 inches deep in the ground, while previous studies looked only as far as 11 inches, the study found. "The findings of this study are important in that they demonstrate a previously overlooked environmental benefit of corn production in general and of corn-based ethanol in specific," said Keith Alverson, a member of the National Corn Growers Association's Corn Board.
