Sochi, Russia, sees weak U.S. bookings over lack of luxury hotels

A shortage of high-end hotel rooms in Sochi, Russia, is contributing to the weak turnout of American visitors to the Winter Olympics there, several tour operators said. Chicago-based tour operator Sports Traveler reports that bookings are 80% less than expected for the event. "Olympic travelers tend to be high-end travelers and most of our hotels have been three stars," Sports Traveler founder and President Anbritt Stengele said.
