UC president suggests fixes for teacher-ed programs

Robert Dynes, president of the University of California, proposed revamping UC's teacher-preparation programs to focus more on turning out math and science teachers. Dynes said he has in mind a new model that would allow prospective math and science teachers to get a bachelor's degree, master's degree and a credential to teach math or science in just five years.
