Safeway to monitor discharge of Earth-warming emissions

Safeway, a large-scale energy consumer, has joined California's Climate Action Registry, a commitment that will require the grocery chain to monitor its greenhouse gas emissions and report the results to the state. Company CEO Steve Burd said the initiative was part of Safeway's ongoing commitment to clean energy.
