Bid specs almost ready for stadium in Georgia

Bid specs for installing artificial turf at Barron Stadium in Rome, Ga., could be released in about 10 days to companies interested in the project. Floyd County voters approved the renovations, which also include an improved drainage system, more seating, new field lighting and concessions and bathrooms, with $3.36 million in special purpose, local option sales tax funds. The stadium will be closed to the public beginning March 1, and work is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of August.
