Counterfeit Alli could pose serious health risks

The FDA said fake capsules of the diet drug Alli lacked its active drug orlistat but contained large amounts of sibutramine, the ingredient in the prescription diet drug Meridia that can raise the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with cardiovascular disease. The FDA said it was working to remove from the market the counterfeit Alli, which was sold mainly on online auction sites.
