Medical groups want war savings to pay for replacing SGR

More than 100 medical groups have asked Congress to use savings from the U.S. military pull-back in Iraq and Afghanistan to pay for repealing the Medicare sustainable growth rate formula for reimbursement. Congress must act before March 1 to stop a 27.4% pay cut. While the idea of replacing the SGR has broad support, the $290 billion cost has stalled efforts to do so.
