NYC's 2011 visitation numbers beat projections

Visitors to New York City reached 50.5 million in 2011, exceeding December predictions and generating $32 billion in tourist spending, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced in a statement. "The city's diverse offerings, events and activities combined with a high quality of life continue to make New York City the world's premier destination for both leisure and business travelers," he said.
