Using the Internet to reach out to parents

There are ways that teachers, administrators and other school staff can use social media to connect with parents, educator Lisa Nielsen writes in this blog post. Among the suggestions are to create a Facebook page and invite parents to "like" it, post positive school news on Twitter and create a blog that includes the answers to frequently asked questions. Schools also can post students' artwork on Tumblr, create a YouTube channel that allows parents to watch student plays, live-stream PTA meetings and morning announcements.
