ATA asks new DOT secretary to drop N.Y. auction plan

The ATA has asked the new transportation secretary to quickly rescind a government plan to auction takeoff and landing slots at New York area airports. "As you noted at your confirmation hearing, auctioning slots does not make sense as a tool to address congestion," ATA President and CEO James May said in a letter to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood following LaHood's Jan. 22 swearing-in.
