Barclays won't need government aid as revenue surges

Barclays Plc reported 2008 revenue increased and said it would not need government help. The earnings release resulted in the biggest jump in Barclays' share price in at least two decades. The increased revenue helped insulate the bank from $11 billion in write-downs in 2008.
