A United Way building under construction in downtown Toledo, Ohio, is designed to minimize its effect on the environment. Sensors inside the building will turn off lights when they are not needed. The building also includes a solar roof to reduce solar heat gain, high-efficiency walls and glass, and low-flow plumbing features. Officials also note the building is the first in the area to be designed with Building Information Modeling, which uses 3-D imaging.
