AAFP: Meaningful use proposal could pose hurdles for small providers

While the American Academy of Family Physicians supports the objectives behind the recently released meaningful use proposals, the group is concerned that small- to medium-scale physician practices will have a hard time complying with some of the rules, such as those relating to performance data collection and reporting. The final rule should "focus on meaningful use and not reporting on the meaningful use," said AAFP official Steven Waldren.
