Feds to begin review of seismic research on Atlantic coast

The federal government will start to look into the environmental impact of seismic studies aimed at finding oil and gas along the Atlantic coast, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said. The move could represent early measures to leasing federal waters for drilling in the Atlantic. The department will submit to Congress a schedule for an environmental assessment that could determine whether research would be permitted along the East Coast, Salazar added.
