Union Pacific approves Calif. city plan for quiet zones

Union Pacific Railroad approved a plan by Loma Linda, Calif., to silence train horns at railroad crossings. The city will pay for $680,000 in improvements, including putting in sensors and installing safety measures at the railroad crossings. The city's quiet zones will apply to railroad crossings at Whittier and Beaumont avenues.
