Canine influenza hits Ohio

Canine influenza, H3N8, which generally causes mild, self-limiting respiratory symptoms but can cause serious pneumonia in some dogs, has occurred in 38 states and most recently began causing infections in dogs in Ohio. Veterinarians in the state are monitoring the situation and recommending the vaccination series for dogs regularly exposed to other dogs, such as those at parks and boarding facilities.
