New LTE standards could bring major boost soon

Mobile networks might soon benefit from a pair of new 4G standards the International Telecommunication Union backed last week, industry analysts say, even though carriers are not likely to widely deploy the 100 megabits-per-second speeds promised in the spec. Carriers, however, are expected this year to begin rolling out LTE-Advanced, a next-generation version of Long-Term Evolution technology that the ITU endorsed.
