NFC tech may soon replace airline boarding passes

Near-field communications-enabled SIM cards offered by Orange Business Services will speed up airport check-ins and other functions, dispensing with paper passes. The technology, developed with air transport research lab SITA, won't require phones equipped with NFC. Discussions are under way for a trial run this summer with a European airline.
