Report: Big-box retailers take steps to become more energy efficient

Big-box retailers such as Petco and Best Buy are downsizing their store sizes in order to become more energy efficient, according to the Retail Industry Leaders Association's inaugural Retail Sustainability Report. Other efforts by retailers include Home Depot's decision to shut off its parking lot lights an hour after the store closes, Staples' request of its suppliers to reduce unnecessary packing, and IKEA's elimination of more than 90% of the plastic bags at its stores.
