Advocacy group challenges Calif. tenure laws on students' behalf

A lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court challenges California teachers' job protections, such as tenure rules, seniority policies and the manner in which teachers can be dismissed from the job. Filed by advocacy group Students Matter on behalf of nine students and their families, the lawsuit contends that the state's job protections for teachers are unconstitutional because they do not ensure all students have access to an equal education.
