Report lists evidence-based practice competencies for RNs, APRNs

In a report in the journal Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing, researchers list competencies that can help registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses use evidence-based practices in clinical settings. The researchers recommend ways to incorporate the competencies into job descriptions as well as promotion and evaluation systems. The creation of these competencies "is something that we have got to do to improve quality and safety in healthcare and to improve patient outcomes," lead author Bernadette Melnyk said.
