Grocery giant enters U.K. telecom market

The U.K.'s largest supermarket company, Tesco, said it will begin providing telephone services via an arrangement with British telecom Cable and Wireless. "Customers tell us they want a more convenient way to lower their phone bills," Tesco chief Sir Terry Leahy said. The company will offer a "simple alternative" to the arcane and complex contracts they despise, he said.
