Florida government steps in to mow lawns for foreclosed homes

Florida cities are cracking down on unkempt lawns at foreclosed homes, sending out lawn crews to mow grass and trim bushes. The delinquent homeowners are ultimately responsible for the landscaping bills, but many of the bills go unpaid. St. Petersburg charges $40 an hour for lawn maintenance plus an administration fee of $104, and the city handled 6,122 cases in 2008.
