Concern about lending restrictions in China continued to weigh on shares across the Asian-Pacific region Wednesday. China's Shanghai Composite gave up 1.1%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index lost 0.4% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 1.6%. Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's Kospi Composite slid 0.7%. Taiwan's Taiex and New Zealand's NZX 50 shed 0.5%. Shares in the Philippines dropped 1.2%, while Singapore's Straits Times Index was down 0.9% in afternoon trading.
