More fliers gate-checking luggage to avoid airline fees

As airline fees rise and security procedures evolve, passengers complain they have no good solution when traveling with luggage. Airlines say their bag-check fees are necessitated by economic conditions and have nothing to do with increased security hassles. But more passengers are gate-checking their bags as a way to avoid such fees, The Wall Street Journal reports.
