New icon is created to inform users about ad targeting

A small "i" icon has been created by the Future of Privacy Forum to alert users that an ad employs behavioral targeting. The creation of the symbol is part of efforts by the online ad industry to avoid government privacy rules for targeted ads. The IAB is planning a public awareness campaign for the icon, which, although not mandatory for marketers, is expected to be widely adopted.
