UK Commons approves bill to beef up FSA's powers

The UK's Financial Services Bill, which would bolster powers of the Financial Services Authority, was approved by the Commons and will move to the Lords for consideration. The bill would authorise the FSA to develop tough rules regarding bankers' compensation and bonuses. It would also bring together the FSA, the Treasury and the Bank of England to form the Council for Financial Stability.
